French studio Unexpected’s turn-based tactical roguelite Deified will leave Steam Early Access on September 21, completing a development period that began on April 27.
Unexpected originally used the period to refine its balance, interface, readability and quality-of-life features with community feedback. The studio also planned to add the narrative ending, a final boss floor and previously hidden content before version 1.0.
Players control Sator, who is attempting to reclaim the Gold of the Rhine from seven corrupted Lords. Combat has no mana, action points or traditional cooldowns, meaning every turn is primarily limited by positioning and the relics currently equipped.
Those relics occupy slots that provide both advantages and drawbacks. Identical fragments can be combined to restore and strengthen individual artifacts, while collecting relics from matching groups creates additional synergies. Skill trees and unlockable rooms gradually introduce more possibilities across future runs.
That structure places more responsibility on build planning. Because every equipped relic changes both strength and limitations, choosing the most powerful artifact may create a weakness that becomes increasingly difficult to manage when the game reaches its later bosses.
Goblinz Publishing has also joined the project as publisher ahead of the full release. Players interested in another dark-fantasy tactical roguelite can read our previous coverage of Blightstone.
