Kogado Studio has announced that short romance visual novel Sugar Lies will launch for PC through Steam in late 2026, followed by Nintendo Switch in spring 2027. Its central relationship begins with a young man who physically cannot tolerate lies meeting a girl whose entire personality is built around them.
Akito Nagatsuki feels sick whenever he notices someone lying or performing a false version of themselves. That makes Yui Sakuramiya almost uniquely incompatible with him. A former child prodigy raised under the demanding guidance of her actor father, Yui has spent her life becoming whatever the people around her expect to see.
Akito recognizes her performance immediately, turning what might have been an ordinary boy-meets-girl encounter into what he considers the worst possible meeting. Naturally, that is also where their summer story begins.
The supporting cast includes Akari Yukihira, Akito’s relaxed childhood friend and a stage actress who practically lives at his home. She is voiced by Hikaru Iida, while Yui is played by Ikumi Hasegawa. Both performers sing the opening theme, “Truth or Lies,” composed by Raito.
Kogado Studio is publishing the game, with Team S:OWLS credited for development. Character designs are handled by Ringopann and Omoti, while Ryusei is responsible for the music.
