A new trailer for Labyrinth of the Demon King, an upcoming first-person dungeon crawler, was showcased during The MIX Spring Showcase. This title, which will be available for PC (Steam), PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, takes you through a mythical, demon-ravaged feudal Japan. A demo version of the game is already available on Steam, offering a first look at this dark and challenging adventure.
The plot of Labyrinth of the Demon King is set in the cruel and hopeless world of the Demon King, inspired by feudal Japan and Buddhist folklore. The world is brought to life in a beautiful low-poly retro-grim style, with dithering filters that evoke an authentic PS1 experience. This aesthetic approach creates an atmosphere that simultaneously evokes nostalgia and dread.
You will have to arm yourself not only with swords, naginatas, muskets, and bows, but also with your wits. The battles are brutal and challenging, requiring a specific approach, whether through skill or patience, to defeat the various Yōkai as well as other horrifying creatures that inhabit the labyrinth. Additionally, you will have to explore every corner in search of limited resources. Finding armor and magical talismans can change the course of battles, while clues and puzzles are key to advancing through the labyrinth.
