After nearly two years of development and over 90,000 hours spent on programming, design, sound, music, and testing, Croatian studio Today’s Games has announced the release date of their first metroidvania. ReSetna will be available on January 31, 2025, on Steam and Nintendo Switch, with versions for other consoles expected during Q1 2025.

The game features seven zones and offers over 20 hours of gameplay filled with challenges, enemies, mysteries, and intriguing narrative elements. The latest gameplay trailer reveals two new zones: Darkness and the barren region of Acidia. Each zone offers its own atmosphere and challenges. Our first impressions of the game can be read here.

Acidia was once home to Energetech Solutions, a company specializing in renewable energy sources. Their experiments with Entropium, a powerful yet unstable synthetic element, devastated the environment. As a result, Acidia became a toxic wasteland filled with remnants of advanced technology and scars of destruction. These experiments also created rifts in space and time, giving rise to Darkness, a region where the laws of physics are distorted and the world is overrun by chaos.

One of the game’s key features is the innovative Tetris Chip Upgrade System. During your adventure, you’ll collect chips used to upgrade ReSetna’s abilities and weapons, allowing you to tailor your playstyle. You can see how this works in the new trailer below.
