MIO: Memories in Orbit Locks January 2026 Release Date, Adds Switch 2 Version

Publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Douze Dixiemes have confirmed that the science-fiction Metroidvania MIO: Memories in Orbit will launch on January 20, 2026, priced at $19.99. The game, which combines intense platforming with a poetic atmosphere, is set to arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.

Players step into the role of MIO, a small and agile robot who wakes up alone on the Vessel, a huge spaceship now drifting in ruins. The ship was once cared for by AI helpers called Pearls, but it has since been taken over by wild plants and broken machines. With the Vessel close to shutting down completely, MIO must explore its dark corridors, regain lost memories, and uncover what caused the collapse of the ship and the disappearance of its past.

The game’s style mixes science fiction with elements inspired by comics, anime, paintings, and a soundtrack of calm lo-fi beats and choral music. This blend has been praised for creating a dreamy and poetic mood. Likewise, the gameplay focuses on movement and action working together. You can glide, cling to walls, swing with a grappling hook, and rely on precise controls while fighting threats and navigating the world.

Those interested in trying the adventure early can download the demo now on Steam. It provides two to three hours of content from the start of the game, letting players experience platforming, exploration, a hidden area to uncover, and a major challenge waiting to be solved.
