A few months ago, we got a chance to play a demo of the turn-based tactical game Project Haven, whose gameplay is reminiscent of XCOM and promises a lot. Players lead the mercenary squad Steel Dragons through the urban streets of the last city on Earth.

Besides single-player, you can team up with three friends or other players in cooperative mode through procedural encounters in a world where tactical precision is key. You’ll manage weapon inventory, upgrade weapons, improve character skills, and enjoy a story-driven campaign with fully fleshed-out characters and cutscenes.

Players won’t just control one character; there’s a large roster to choose from, each with unique skills and traits. During missions, objectives must be completed through stealth or combat, requiring careful strategy and environmental use.

Project Haven also offers first- and third-person perspectives, a modular injury system (e.g., shooting enemies in legs to slow them), and mechanics like hacking and breaching walls or doors. Weapons are diverse, ranging from ranged to melee, with various ammunition types. As mercenaries level up, they become stronger, offering a highly personalized squad management experience.

Project Haven does not yet have a confirmed release date but is expected on PC via Steam.
