VOIN is a blend of the action RPG and hack-and-slash genres, featuring random loot, open-world-like levels, and roguelite elements. A demo version is expected to be released next year. In a recent interview with 80 Level, Nikita revealed what we can expect from this game.
You play as one of the elemental servants created by a powerful mage to fulfill a single purpose: become a formidable weapon in the hands of your mysterious creators and join the quest to cleanse the world of a devastating plague that has consumed all life. VOIN draws inspiration from various games such as Diablo, Borderlands, Witchfire, Doom, Prodeus, and Elden Ring, with the ultimate goal being to create a first-person action RPG with a sense of exploration.
“My intent with the combat system was to create a visceral and fast-paced melee combat experience, where players rely primarily on their reactions rather than their character’s power. Still, I wanted to retain RPG elements, including attributes and abilities, similar to games like Diablo or Torchlight. Also, it was an important goal that active abilities would not take full control of the player’s character during their use. As a result, every ability can be used while moving, aiming, or dodging, which contributes to the combat’s responsiveness and fluidity.”

With a blade in hand, players have access to various traversal mechanics, including jumping, double jumping, air dashing, and the Super Dash (an extended forward dash). These mechanics provide complete freedom of exploration, allowing players to reach almost any location or height with mastery through practice and experimentation.
You start in a central area, where you have the option to choose which part of the world you want to explore. After selection, you enter a vast, “open-world”-like level. Each time you visit it, the experience will vary depending on the missions you take and the enemies you face. Additionally, certain parts of the level may be inaccessible at the start, requiring further game progression to unlock.
VOIN is scheduled for release on PC via Steam.
