Publisher DreadXP and developer Talesworth Game Studio have announced The Secret of Weepstone, a dungeon-crawling RPG that transports players to a grim, hand-drawn world inspired by the golden era of tabletop role-playing. It will be released for PC via Steam in 2026, and is a love letter to the classic Dungeons & Dragons campaigns of the 1970s and 80s.

The game is set in the forsaken village of Weepstone, where a once-thriving settlement is now plagued by fear and barren fields. You must guide a party of unheroic commonfolk, including villagers, battle-worn adventurers, and even suspected heretics, on a quest to unravel the mysteries behind their lord’s debilitating night terrors and the unholy forces haunting a nearby keep.

The Secret of Weepstone blends dice-rolling combat and skill checks with exploration of trap-laden dungeons. You can level up your party of up to eight misfits, outfitting them with weapons and magic items as they face menacing monsters. A unique “Mortal Favors” system embraces the inevitability of death, granting special boons to surviving characters when a party member perishes, adding strategic depth to the perilous journey.
