Nintendo has been working on a new console for a while now, which is expected to be the successor to the extremely popular Nintendo Switch. Although the company has officially confirmed work on the new system, no details about the device have been revealed yet, nor is there a confirmed announcement date. Still, according to numerous rumors, the Nintendo Switch 2 could arrive next year, with an announcement possibly coming very soon.

The latest information comes from an anonymous user known as MoistyCharlie, who shared the rumor on an unofficial GTA 6–focused Discord server. While anonymous sources should always be taken with caution, it’s notable that this user previously predicted details about the PS5 Pro, including the announcement date and $700 price point, which no one expected. Because of that accuracy, the new Switch 2 rumor has attracted attention from the gaming community.

According to MoistyCharlie, the Nintendo Switch 2 will be announced early next month. While no exact date was given, the announcement is expected to occur in the first half of October, possibly even in the first week. As for the price, this source claims that the Switch 2 will launch at $400.

One key detail is that Nintendo will reportedly offer two versions of the console, implying two different price tiers. It’s assumed that $400 refers to the cheaper model, though there are no specifics on how the versions will differ. It’s possible that Nintendo might follow Sony’s example and offer one model with a cartridge slot and another fully digital model.

The idea of launching two console models is not surprising, considering Nintendo already did something similar with the Nintendo Switch Lite, a cheaper and simplified version of the original Switch. However, the Lite was introduced later in the system’s lifecycle, so it remains to be seen whether Nintendo will launch two Switch 2 models at once or release a second version later.

As always with such information, skepticism is necessary. None of these rumors are confirmed, and even if accurate, plans can still change. The announcement date could shift, though pricing is unlikely to change at this stage of development. If MoistyCharlie’s predictions are correct, next month will bring our first official look at the Nintendo Switch 2, alongside pricing and model details.
