Islanders: New Shores is the upcoming sequel to the acclaimed minimalist city-builder title Islanders, and it promises to bring summer days to life in 2025. This title offers an expanded version of the relaxed and strategic experience that won over audiences in 2019. It will be available for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.

The game returns you to a world of procedurally generated islands, where the goal is to strategically place buildings to maximize points, unlock new structures, and create picturesque settlements. Compared to its predecessor, this sequel offers more than 44 different building types, spread across six distinct biomes, from volcanic peaks to peaceful coves. Each biome has four color variations, which, along with 50 dynamic island generators, ensures endless variety.

Islanders: New Shores also introduces a series of new elements that deepen the strategic aspect of the game. Among them are “boons,” one-time powers like duplicating buildings or swapping already placed structures, and advanced scoring systems that reward tactics such as line-of-sight and inter-island strategies. Along with the classic High Score Mode, the game offers a Sandbox Mode for unlimited creativity, while the Photo Mode with filters and a rotating camera allows for capturing perfect moments.

The original game earned 94% positive reviews on Steam. Additionally, The Station, which took over the role of the original developer Grizzly Games (which became part of Coatsink in 2022), strives to maintain the minimalist approach but with a modern visual presentation. The exact release date is not yet known.
