Pugstorm and Fireshine Games have revealed a new version of their sandbox adventure Core Keeper called Core Keeper – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. This upgraded version will launch on January 28, 2026, and players who already own the game on the original Nintendo Switch will get it as a free update.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will offer better graphics and smoother gameplay, aiming for 60 FPS and improved lighting, shadows, water, and particle effects. It also adds native co-op for up to eight players, which is twice as many as the original Switch version. Players on the older Switch can still join these eight-player sessions as long as the host is playing on the new console.
The upgraded edition arrives on the same day as a major new content update: the Void & Voltage Update. This update will be free for all Core Keeper players on every platform on January 28, 2026. Void & Voltage adds a lot of new content to the underground world, including a brand-new biome called Breaker’s Reach.
This area includes new enemy types and a huge new robo-boss named S.A.H.A.B.A.R. Players will get new weapons like the Flamethrower and Minigun, and they’ll also be able to build the Advanced Automation Table, which unlocks machines that make underground life easier. These include the Robot Farm Arm, Seed Extractor Machine, Item Collector, and tools like the Conveyor Belt Splitter, Shredder, Incinerator, and Critter Catcher to create fully automated setups.
Core Keeper is currently out on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and the Void & Voltage Update will both release on January 28, 2026.
