Team Cherry has announced a major free expansion for Hollow Knight: Silksong. The update, called Sea of Sorrow, is set to release in 2026 and will be available at no cost to all players. The announcement comes as Silksong reaches an impressive milestone, with more than seven million copies sold across all platforms, along with millions more players through Xbox Game Pass.

In their announcement, Team Cherry shared that Hornet’s journey is far from over. The Sea of Sorrow expansion will take players into a new ocean-themed part of the world, where Hornet will travel across and beneath dangerous, salt-filled seas. The team confirmed that work on the expansion is already well underway.

This new content will greatly expand the land of Pharloom where players can expect new places to explore, powerful new bosses to fight, and tools to add to Hornet’s abilities. While Team Cherry has not shared many details yet, they plan to reveal more information closer to the expansion’s release.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, GOG, the Humble Store, and the Microsoft Store. The base game is also included with Xbox Game Pass.
