The return of deep role-playing games has opened the door for bold new worlds, and Starfinder: Afterlight is shaping up to be one of the most exciting ones coming in 2026. Its first gameplay showing during the New Game Plus showcase offered a strong look at tactical combat and introduced a standout narrator performance by Roger Clark.

Starfinder: Afterlight is based on the Starfinder tabletop RPG from Paizo, a science-fiction offshoot of Pathfinder that blends advanced technology with magic. The structure will feel familiar to anyone who enjoyed Baldur’s Gate 3, Solasta, or Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, but the setting moves far beyond swords and castles. This time, the stage is a galaxy on the brink of collapse, and the captain meant to stop it has gone missing.

A crew is formed from all corners of space, including android killers, mystics, and other strange allies, each carrying personal struggles and strong opinions. Epictellers has made it clear that choices matter deeply. Every action can change how factions respond and how events unfold, staying true to the freedom and risk of tabletop role-playing.

With a campaign expected to last between 40 and 60 hours, no two journeys are meant to feel the same. The first gameplay demo gives a clear look at combat, which uses a three-action turn system inspired by Pathfinder Second Edition.

Roger Clark, best known as the voice of Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2, takes on the role of narrator. He is joined by an impressive voice cast that includes Neil Newbon, Fred Tatasciore, Inel Tomlinson, Melissa Medina, James Alexander, and Carolina Ravassa.

Starfinder: Afterlight is set to launch in Steam Early Access sometime in 2026, with a demo currently in development.
