If you’ve ever wished someone would bring back the tone, writing, and atmospheric depth of the original Fallout games, this is a project worth watching. An upcoming isometric CRPG from New Blood Interactive is shaping up to be a deliberate homage to Fallout 1 and 2, complete with retro-futuristic aesthetics, dry observational humor, and turn-based combat rooted in classic design philosophy.

The project, often referred to by fans as the “New Blood CRPG,” has reportedly been in development since at least 2021. The studio is best known for fast-paced, stylized shooters like Dusk, Ultrakill, and Amid Evil, titles that helped define the modern “boomer shooter” revival. A move from first-person action to a dialogue-driven, turn-based CRPG suggests something more personal: a passion project rooted in deep admiration for the genre’s golden era.

The setting is described as a “Fallout 0”-style pre-apocalypse, exploring a world on the brink rather than in the aftermath. Technically, it aims to modernize the formula with ray-traced visuals, cinematic kill cams during turn-based combat, and even hybrid first-person sequences to create more fluid encounters than traditional grid-based systems allow. It’s an attempt to bridge old-school role-playing depth with contemporary presentation.

Key contributors reportedly include artist Alexander Berezin, known for his work on the Fallout: Bakersfield mod, bringing an authentic pixel-perfect retro-futurist aesthetic. There are also rumors, still unconfirmed, of involvement from Mark Morgan, the composer whose haunting soundscapes helped define the mood of the original Fallout games.

Despite the excitement, the game remains officially unannounced, with no confirmed title or release date as of early 2026. Teasers have surfaced sporadically through hidden trailers and social media posts.
