Developed by Henry’s House and Oscar Brittain, Slayblade takes inspiration from classic Beyblade battles and turns them into a colorful roguelite adventure packed with customization, fast-paced matches, and a healthy dose of early 2000s charm.
You skate around a miniature city collecting parts for their battle-top, known as a Slayblade, before heading into battles against rival competitors. More than 60 different parts can be mixed and matched, allowing players to create unique combinations and discover powerful synergies during each run.
What makes the game stand out isn’t just the battles themselves. Slayblade embraces a laid-back Y2K aesthetic, complete with lo-fi PS1-inspired visuals, hand-drawn character art, and the kind of vibe that feels pulled straight from a Saturday morning cartoon era.
Each run revolves around improving your blade, earning money through victories, unlocking upgrades, and gradually becoming strong enough to challenge the city’s biggest threats. The story takes a back seat to the gameplay, which is clearly focused on quick, replayable sessions and experimentation.
A free demo is currently available on Steam, while the full release is planned for PC at a later date.
