From Ruins Combines Post-Apocalyptic Mystery With Golden Idol-Style Deduction

Developed by DigiTales Interactive, the studio behind Lacuna and Between Horizons, detective adventure From Ruins drops you into a world still dealing with the aftermath of an apocalypse. Decades after civilization collapsed, you take on the role of a detective investigating a conflict that traces its roots back to the very end of the world.

What immediately stands out is the game’s approach to solving cases. Instead of collecting random objects or clicking through endless dialogue trees, you’ll gather clues, key words, and witness statements before using them to complete detailed case sheets. The goal is to draw your own conclusions and piece together what really happened, much like in games such as Return of the Obra Dinn and The Case of the Golden Idol.

The story promises plenty of twists, difficult choices, and moral dilemmas, with multiple endings depending on how you approach the investigation. DigiTales says the experience is designed to be completed over an evening or two, focusing on meaningful storytelling without unnecessary filler.

The game is scheduled to launch on Steam in 2027, but fans of narrative-driven mysteries may want to add it to their wishlist now.
