Solo developer Deep Strike Games has announced WarSlice, a retro-inspired turn-based tactics game that pays homage to classics such as Advance Wars while introducing its own anime-inspired cast of commanding officers and strategic battlefield mechanics.

You take control of armies across grid-based maps featuring forests, rivers, cities and other terrain that directly influence tactical decisions. By capturing properties, commanders generate resources to produce a wide range of military units, including infantry, tanks, helicopters, naval vessels and more, before attempting to eliminate enemy forces or capture their opponent’s Nexus.

One of WarSlice’s defining features is its roster of more than 11 unique Commanding Officers, each possessing special abilities that strengthen nearby troops. You can even deploy their commanding officer directly onto the battlefield to create powerful support auras and unleash devastating Ultimate abilities once enough energy has been built up during combat.

Beyond its single-player campaign of more than 25 story missions, WarSlice will also feature online multiplayer, local play and a built-in map editor that allows players to design and share their own battlefields.

The game is currently in development for PC, with wishlisting now available on Steam.
