Publishers Clouded Leopard Entertainment and Spiral Up Games, alongside developer Metal Head Games, have announced that the prison escape RPG Back to the Dawn will launch for PlayStation 5 on October 22, 2026, continuing the game’s expansion across console platforms.

Originally released in Steam Early Access in November 2023, Back to the Dawn received its full launch on PC, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One in July 2025 before arriving on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 earlier this year. The PlayStation 5 edition includes localization across all supported subtitle languages, as well as brand-new Japanese and Chinese voice acting, bringing additional improvements for international audiences.

Set in a corrupt city populated by anthropomorphic animals, Back to the Dawn places players inside Boulderton Prison as either a wrongfully convicted journalist or an undercover investigator. Trapped behind bars, players must gather evidence, build relationships, expose conspiracies and ultimately plan a daring escape while uncovering a larger plot threatening the city’s future.

The RPG features more than 20 hours of story content for each of its two playable protagonists, over 100 quests, 47 unique inmates, multiple rival gangs and numerous escape routes that lead to different endings. Players are free to shape their own approach by developing combat, stealth or persuasion skills while deciding whether to become a respected inmate, a feared gang member or a lone survivor.

In Japan, the game will also receive both standard and limited physical editions.
