Developer ProbablyMonsters, a studio founded by former Bungie veterans, has released a new gameplay trailer for Crimson Moon, offering an extended look at its gothic action RPG ahead of its planned September 2026 launch on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The trailer showcases fast-paced combat, replayable missions and cooperative gameplay set in a dark fantasy world inspired by Gothic and High Renaissance architecture.
In Crimson Moon, players assume the role of a Nephilim, a powerful half-human, half-angel warrior sworn to the Order of the Crimson Moon. Their mission is to reclaim the cursed city of Gildenarch, which has fallen to demonic forces, undead creatures, vampires and ancient gods corrupted by a supernatural force known as Hellgrowth.
The latest gameplay footage highlights the game’s aggressive, skill-based melee combat. Players can chain together precise dodges, parries and devastating executions while unleashing powerful Nephilim abilities that temporarily transform their character and unlock destructive celestial attacks. Every enemy type features unique finishing animations, encouraging mastery of different combat styles.
Rather than following a traditional open-world structure, Crimson Moon is built around replayable missions lasting between 15 and 45 minutes. You gradually liberate districts of Gildenarch, pushing back corruption while discovering stronger enemies, hidden loot, elite encounters and powerful bosses. Returning to the central hub, Sanctus Clypeus Cathedral, allows you to craft equipment, upgrade weapons and experiment with new character builds before embarking on another mission.
Customization plays a major role in progression, with a wide selection of armor sets, weapons and equipment supporting different playstyles. Dynamic difficulty modifiers and evolving enemy encounters are designed to encourage multiple playthroughs, while optional online two-player co-op introduces additional enemy scaling and cooperative combat strategies.
