The wonderfully relaxed road-trip RPG Keep Driving is heading to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on September 28, 2026. On the same day, its PC edition will receive official Steam Workshop support, allowing players to create and download mods.

Developed by Swedish studio Y/CJ/Y, previously responsible for Post Void, Keep Driving originally launched for PC in February 2025. It has since sold more than 300,000 copies, giving this unusual mixture of road trip, RPG and resource management a much larger audience than its quiet presentation might suggest.

Set during the early 2000s, the game begins shortly after the player purchases their first car. A distant music festival provides an initial destination, but the journey can change depending on chosen routes, hitchhikers, unexpected jobs and roadside events.

Problems such as broken vehicles and slow tractors are handled through a turn-based system using character skills and whatever items happen to be sitting inside the glovebox. The car can also be repaired, customized and upgraded as the procedurally generated journey continues.

Each trip lasts approximately one to four hours and can lead to multiple endings, encouraging players to begin again and follow a different route. Its pixel-art countryside and soundtrack featuring independent Swedish bands give the experience a particularly convincing early-2000s atmosphere.

The console editions will include the content added through previous PC updates, including another ending, new locations, additional road events, expanded language support and controller improvements. Official mod support should meanwhile give established PC players on Steam a good reason to climb back into the driver’s seat.
