Lost Soul Aside, a game that began as a solo project by Chinese developer Yang Bing in 2014, has officially “gone gold” and is ready for release. The game is set to launch on August 29, 2025 on PC via Steam and PlayStation 5, marking the end of a seven-year journey to becoming a full-fledged AAA title.

Sony’s China Hero Project is an initiative to support Chinese indie developers which saw the potential in Bing’s work and brought Lost Soul Aside into the program in March 2017. This support allowed Bing to grow his team, founding Ultizero Games in Shanghai, and turn his one-man effort into a full studio project. In November 2022, Sony officially became the game’s global publisher.

Inspired by Japanese action games like Devil May Cry, Lost Soul Aside is a fast-paced action RPG. The development team used an innovative technique, physically creating the main character Kaser’s outfit in real life before digitizing it for the game. This approach helped blend realistic and fantastical elements. According to Yang Bing, the combat system will feature a wide variety of moves, combining seamless action with deep character progression, all inspired by his childhood gaming experiences.
