Black Jacket Brings a New Spin to Roguelites

Developer Mipumi Games, in collaboration with Skystone Games, has officially announced Black Jacket, a bold new take on the deck-building roguelite genre. The game blends the familiar rules of Blackjack with inventive card mechanics, challenging players to gamble their way out of a hellish afterlife by bending the rules and playing impossible combos.

In Black Jacket, you find yourself trapped in the afterlife, surrounded by souls desperate for release. To escape their damnation, you must win at the card tables to collect enough coin to bribe the ferryman. Every hand is a high-stakes affair, as this is no ordinary game. You can change the rules mid-game, forcing your opponents to overcommit, manipulating card values, or even swapping hands with them to uncover synergies.

The game promises a high degree of replayability and strategic depth. In other words, you can stack your deck with powerful cards, artifacts, suits, and curses to build unique strategies run after run, experimenting with near-infinite combinations. A key part of the experience is learning to “read your opponents”, as their playstyles and hidden curses are revealed only through their hands.

Black Jacket is slated for release in 2026 for PC via Steam.
