After months of improvements and player feedback, Memoriapolis, the city-builder from 5PM Studio, will leave Steam Early Access on April 30, 2025. The game first launched in Early Access on August 29, 2024, and players have praised its unique approach to city development across different historical eras. The full release will allow players to build cities spanning 2,500 years of history, from ancient times to the 1700s.
Memoriapolis is not your typical city-builder. While most games in the genre focus on a single era or a linear upgrade system, this title challenges players to guide a settlement through four distinct historical periods: Antiquity, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, and the Age of Enlightenment. Each era introduces new mechanics, buildings, and challenges, reflecting the growing complexity and needs of a developing civilization.
Early Access began with the first two eras, Antiquity and the Middle Ages, allowing players to lay the foundations of their cities and face medieval challenges. The Renaissance was added in a major update late last year, and with the full release, the Age of Enlightenment will complete the timeline, providing a grand finale to this historical saga.
What sets Memoriapolis apart is its system of organic growth. Unlike traditional city-builders where every road and building is carefully planned, this game uses a unique algorithm developed with real urban planners to simulate realistic urbanization. Citizens shape the city as they move between key buildings like forums, markets, and fortresses, creating a dynamic and authentic metropolis.
With the Steam City Builder Fest offering discounts until March 31, 2025, now is the perfect time to try the final Early Access version, or wait for the full release to experience the game in its entirety.
