Remember that wild multiplayer game that stole The Game Awards 2024? The one about goofy aliens making chaotic prison breaks? Well, get ready, because CUFFBUST hits Steam on October 15. Two Star Games dropped a new trailer, showcasing destructible walls and sneaky escapes that look like pure co-op fun. If you’re looking for a clever and crazy co-op game, clear your schedule — this is the breakout hit we need.
You play as a Jailien, a colorful koala-like creature trapped in a huge prison that just had a security glitch. All the cell doors are open, but you and up to 19 other players only have minutes to escape before more guards arrive. Grab tools nearby, like a pan to hit a guard or a panic button to trick them, and make a plan fast. You can team up to blow open a vent with explosives, or quietly dig a tunnel with just a spoon for a stealth win.
What really hooks you is that every corner of the game feels active and ready to be used. Check security cameras to see where guards are, then slip through weak walls or vents to reach secret areas where the best gear hides, like a powerful ray gun. Proximity chat makes it feel real: voices sound muffled through thick doors or loud in open halls.
You can betray your team for a solo escape or fight rivals to slow them down. With 20 players, no two games are ever the same. Hundreds of escape paths twist together, from rooftop jumps to underground tunnels, letting you mix tools and tricks for a fresh escape every time. Also, don’t forget the Gerjohntons, those grumpy enemies who hate you and show up to cause trouble. Take them out fast, or they will call for backup.
Launch day also includes a full map editor with Steam Workshop support, so you can build your own prisons and share the chaos. Pre-order now to get the Drippy Stuff pack, which includes 40 cosmetic items to dress up your Jailien for a stylish escape.
