Roguelike GodsTV Takes Kickstarter by Storm in Just 24 Hours

Only 24 hours after its launch, GodsTV has already been fully funded on Kickstarter, boosted by its Steam demo, quirky rewards, and a heavy dose of ’90s arcade nostalgia. This animated, adults-only brawler, developed by Melbot, blends fast-paced action with roguelike mechanics and can be played solo or in co-op.

GodsTV turns every weapon, buff, and ability into a sponsored commercial product endorsed by gods. As the creators put it: “You’re not just a fighter, you’re a star.” The game’s visual style bears the unmistakable mark of iconic artist Anna Cattish, known for her work with Disney, Cartoon Network, and Nickelodeon.

Melbot Studios spent the past year fighting for funding, facing an industry often wary of bold projects like this. After numerous rejections from publishers, the studio decided to go independent and launched a Kickstarter campaign to make the game what it was always meant to be: absurd, chaotic, and completely unrestrained.

A standout feature is the “Backstage” system, after every death, you respawn in a backstage area where you continue building your fame. There, you negotiate with a greedy AI agent, make questionable deals with gods, and face bizarre choices that shape the kind of star you’ll become.

With the campaign fully funded, GodsTV is now on track for a 2026 release on Steam, PlayStation, Switch 2, and Xbox.
