Fatekeeper just dropped its first major gameplay reveal today

The upcoming first-person fantasy action RPG Fatekeeper just premiered its first major gameplay trailer, showcasing immersive sword-and-sorcery combat in a dark fantasy setting. Developed by Paraglacial, a subsidiary of THQ Nordic, and published by THQ Nordic, the game immediately promises a challenging experience for RPG fans.

The debut trailer highlights a world ravaged by ancient cataclysms, featuring handcrafted environments like ruined temples, mystical forests, and crumbling sanctuaries. While the game follows a focused narrative, it is packed with optional exploration for players seeking out deeper lore, relics, and hidden secrets.

The reactive melee combat emphasizes weighty sword strikes, precise parries, and dodges against a variety of enemies, including hordes of husks, soldiers, beasts, and arcane foes, all possessing unique attack patterns. Players are encouraged to build hybrid combat styles by mixing melee with precise magic spells, such as fire, ice, and telekinesis, which can be used to lift and toss enemies off ledges.

Visually, Fatekeeper appears to utilize Unreal Engine 5, delivering a high-fidelity, atmospheric experience. The game has already drawn comparisons to a potential “Skyrim/Dark Messiah successor,” combining crunchy enemy reactions, environmental puzzles, and atmospheric exploration. While the developers have stated the game is not strictly a soulslike, its challenging, skill-based encounters promise a demanding fantasy adventure.

Fatekeeper will be available for PC via Steam.
