Indie developer Thomas van den Berg, known as Noio, has announced Garbage Country, a post-apocalyptic exploration sim scheduled to release in Q2 2026 on PC via Steam. Announced during the PC Gaming Show on June 8, this new project builds on the atmospheric style of Noio’s previous hits, Kingdom: New Lands and Cloud Gardens, while introducing a mix of driving and tower defense gameplay.

In Garbage Country, you set out across a vast, post-industrial wilderness, driving a customizable truck through a decaying yet beautiful landscape, with exploration at its core. The physics-based driving system allows you to upgrade your vehicles for better handling and access to new areas as you navigate the tough terrain.

However, prepare to face dangerous bots. To survive, you’ll need to gather scrap to build turrets and engage in various battles. These encounters require careful planning and resource management. Between fights, Garbage Country offers peaceful moments to appreciate the world’s beauty and encourages you to uncover hidden stories within it.
