Gemini X Revives Classic Mega Man Action With a Modern Metroidvania Twist

Retro action platformers are making a comeback, and Gemini X is looking to capture that classic formula with a new sci-fi adventure. Announced by Komi Games Inc., this 2.5D action metroidvania is currently targeting a 2028 release on Steam.

Players take control of Rook, a security officer trapped aboard the hijacked space colony Z.C.N. 02, where rogue machines known as the Heretechs have seized control. Instead of following a fixed route, players can tackle bosses in different orders while gradually unlocking powerful new abilities by defeating enemies and absorbing their technology.

Combat centers on fast-paced run-and-gun gameplay inspired by the 32-bit era, combining dashing, shooting and platforming with modern exploration systems. Newly acquired powers open previously inaccessible areas while secret strategies allow players to influence boss encounters and alter the colony’s future through meaningful story choices.
