Digital platform GOG, known for its commitment to DRM-free gaming and video game preservation, launched its 17th-anniversary event on September 25, 2025. This 12-day event celebrates nearly two decades of offering both classic and modern games without digital restrictions. It also strongly confirms GOG’s dedication to keeping games playable forever. The anniversary celebration runs until October 7, 2025.

The anniversary kicks off with a huge sale as nearly 4,000 DRM-free games, DLCs, and bundles are discounted by up to 95%. The sale offers significant price cuts on the platform’s biggest titles. Notable highlights of the sale include:

  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition: 80% off ($9.99)
  • Cyberpunk 2077: 65% off ($20.99)
  • Tomb Raider Definitive Survivor Trilogy: 77% off ($11.60), bundling the three titles of Lara Croft’s reboot era.
  • Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition: 60% off
  • Kingdom Come: Deliverance II Gold Edition: 35% off

The sale also features discounts on classics like Heroes of Might and Magic 3: Complete and Dungeons & Dragons: Neverwinter Nights 2 Enhanced Edition, alongside popular franchises like XCOM 2 and the SteamWorld Dig series. Early Access titles, soundtracks, and wallpapers are also part of the extensive promotion.

A major draw of the event is the “Anniversary Calendar,” which features a new surprise drop every day at 3:00 PM CET. These daily reveals include exclusive deals, game releases, and updates to the GOG Preservation Program, which ensures long-term compatibility for classic titles.

The first two days have already brought significant announcements:

  • Day 1 (September 25): The launch of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, a turn-based RPG with real-time elements set in a Belle Époque-inspired world from Sandfall Interactive, debuted on GOG as a fully DRM-free title.
  • Day 2 (September 26): Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration and Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition made their debut on GOG. These are fully DRM-free versions, with online features adapted to work offline via LAN and added to the Preservation Program for future-proofing.
