Developer Ars Goetia and publisher Dear Villagers have released a playable demo for HellSlave II: Judgment of the Archon as part of Steam Next Fest, giving players access to the opening hours of the upcoming dungeon crawler ahead of its planned Q3 2026 release.

The sequel takes place in a world devastated by endless warfare between six demon lords. After centuries of destruction, the heavens intervene by unleashing the Archon of Judgment, a powerful force determined to wipe everything clean. Caught in the middle are humanity’s last survivors and the players tasked with saving them.

One of the biggest additions is a greater emphasis on character customization. You can choose from six classes, ranging from assassins to plague-wielding mages, while also unlocking demonic powers that expand build possibilities even further. The combination of talent trees, class abilities, and corruption-based skills appears to offer plenty of room for experimentation.

Combat remains turn-based but introduces new mechanics designed to reward strategic decision-making. Outside of battle, you can explore an overworld filled with dungeons, villages, secrets, and quests, making the experience feel larger and more open than its predecessor.

According to solo developer Baptiste Miny, much of HellSlave II was shaped by feedback from the original game. The goal was to create a darker, deeper, and more ambitious RPG while preserving the elements that attracted fans in the first place.
