The launch of Heroes of Hammerwatch II has proven to be a great success, reaching a peak of over 21,000 active players, according to SteamDB data. This impressive result is backed by over 1,200 reviews, of which a substantial 90% are positive. Despite the mixed reactions to its predecessor, the latest installment from Crackshell Studios has managed to capture the attention of rogue-lite and action RPG fans.

Heroes of Hammerwatch II merges rogue-lite mechanics with the depth and progression of Action RPGs. Players embark on challenging expeditions into the Dark Citadel, a dungeon with randomly generated levels filled with enemies, traps, and treasure. The combination of permanent gear upgrades and run-specific rewards ensures that every playthrough remains fresh and meaningful.

One of the game’s most notable features is the town building. Between dungeon runs, you can return to your central town to upgrade buildings, enhance gear, and unlock new abilities. Even after you complete the Dark Citadel, the game continues to captivate with its New Game+ option. This feature introduces stronger enemies, better gear, and infinite progression, providing unlimited replayability for those looking to further test their skills.

The game also offers seven unique classes. You can start as a Warrior, Paladin, Ranger, or Wizard, and unlock the Rogue, Warlock, and Sorcerer through gameplay. Each class offers three specializations with unique abilities and passive bonuses.

Heroes of Hammerwatch II launched on January 14th for PC via Steam.
