Indie developer Oscar Celestini is expanding his retro-inspired platformer with Jixa Lady Tiger Plus, an enhanced edition that significantly builds upon the original release with new levels, gameplay mechanics and technical improvements while staying true to its Commodore 64-inspired roots.

Originally released for Windows via itch.io, Jixa Lady Tiger quickly attracted attention thanks to its pixel art, limited color palette, optional CRT filter and unmistakable 1980s Commodore 64 aesthetic. Inspired by classics such as Vixen, the action-platformer follows Jixa, a whip-wielding warrior capable of transforming into a powerful tiger to overcome enemies and navigate dangerous environments.

Jixa Lady Tiger Plus takes that foundation much further. The new edition expands the original campaign from 12 to 20 stages, introducing eight brand-new levels designed around a broader moveset and more sophisticated platforming challenges. Players will also gain access to new abilities, including rope climbing, dodge rolls and a double jump, offering greater mobility and opening the door to more varied exploration and combat strategies.

The tiger transformation remains the centerpiece of the gameplay, allowing Jixa to switch between agile human combat and powerful beast attacks while battling dinosaurs, snakes and other hostile creatures across forests, caves and boss encounters. The adventure also mixes traditional side-scrolling sections with more open exploration and fixed-camera sequences that encourage players to adapt to changing environments.

Beyond the gameplay additions, Jixa Lady Tiger Plus introduces higher-resolution visuals on modern platforms, delivering sharper graphics and smoother animations while preserving the authentic retro presentation. The game also features artwork-driven story scenes, a password save system and an original soundtrack by Simone Pietro Rincione, whose compositions capture the spirit of classic 8-bit and 16-bit action games.
