Retro gaming fans will soon have a new way to organize their Android devices with DS & DSi Launcher, a fan-made launcher inspired by the classic interfaces of the Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi. Designed with handheld enthusiasts in mind, the app recreates the familiar dual-screen menu experience while offering modern Android functionality.
The launcher allows users to switch between DS and DSi-inspired home screens, browse installed Android applications, and organize local libraries of Nintendo DS, DSi and Game Boy Advance games. It also supports controller-friendly navigation, making it particularly appealing for Android gaming handhelds and devices paired with gamepads.
Customization is another major focus. Users can replace application icons with local images, enable icon pack support, display notification badges, and adjust sound or haptic feedback settings. Local backup and export tools are also included, while the application is designed to function entirely offline without requiring user accounts, analytics or tracking services.
The developers emphasize that the launcher is not affiliated with Nintendo and does not include ROMs, BIOS files, official console assets or emulation software. Instead, it serves as a customizable front-end that works alongside legally obtained games and external emulators chosen by the user. A release date has not yet been announced.
