Retro game fans have another classic to add to their collections. Soccer Kid Collection officially launched on June 18, bringing Krisalis Software’s platformer back to modern platforms through QUByte Interactive’s growing QUByte Classics lineup.

For those who missed it the first time around, Soccer Kid was never your typical platformer. Instead of jumping on enemies or swinging a sword, the young protagonist relies almost entirely on his football. The ball serves as both a weapon and a tool for solving puzzles, reaching new areas, and navigating levels filled with hazards.

The story is simple and very much a product of the 1990s. After aliens steal the World Cup trophy, Soccer Kid embarks on a globe-trotting adventure to recover its scattered pieces. Along the way, players must master ball juggling, precise kicks, and clever platforming challenges spread across colorful international locations.

What made the game stand out back then was how much control you had over the ball. It wasn’t just an attack; it was the core of the entire experience. Learning how to bounce, juggle, and manipulate it became just as important as mastering jumps. The new collection keeps the original experience intact while adding a few modern conveniences. Save states, screen filters, and other quality-of-life features make the game easier to revisit without sacrificing its retro charm.

Available on PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, the collection includes both the original SNES version and the MS-DOS release, faithfully preserved through emulation.
