Developer Pygmy Studio has announced that Bokosuka Wars II will launch on PC via Steam in 2026, bringing the tactical simulation RPG to a new audience after years of being available on consoles.

Originally released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in Japan in 2016 before expanding to other regions and later arriving on Nintendo Switch, Bokosuka Wars II serves as a modern successor to the influential Bokosuka Wars, a title first released in 1983 that is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of the simulation RPG genre.

You take control of King Slen, leading an army across the kingdom in an effort to overthrow the tyrannical King Ogres. Throughout the campaign, players recruit captured allies, manage formations, command multiple unit types and carefully choose which soldiers engage in battle. Victory depends not only on strength but also on character compatibility, positioning and strategic decision-making.

As battles are won, units become stronger and can be promoted into more powerful classes such as Heavy Knight and General. Equipment collected from defeated enemies further enhances each character, while army formations can be adjusted to suit different combat situations.

The Steam version includes all of the improvements introduced in the sequel, including two-player cooperative play, allowing a second player to control a Hero character who supports the main army with unique abilities. You can also switch between the game’s classic visual style and artwork based on original illustrations by series creator Rasho.

Additional content includes new recruitable characters, expanded facilities such as churches and silos, updated music featuring a new version of the series’ iconic theme song, and support for battles involving more than 100 units on the battlefield.
