SNK has officially announced The Path of the Warrior: Art of Fighting 3 R, a modernized version of the 1996 fighting game that is heading to PC via Steam. The remaster will be part of the company’s NEO GEO Premium Selection, a lineup of classic Neo Geo titles updated with modern improvements. A release date has not yet been revealed.
Originally released on the NEO GEO, the Art of Fighting series helped establish SNK as one of the leading names in the early fighting game genre. Art of Fighting 3, set in Glasshill Valley, follows the stories and rivalries of a cast of martial artists and has long been regarded as one of the franchise’s most unique entries thanks to its distinctive visual style and gameplay mechanics.
The new Art of Fighting 3 R aims to preserve the original experience while introducing several quality-of-life improvements expected from modern fighting games. Players can look forward to online multiplayer with rollback netcode for smoother online matches, a dedicated Practice Mode for learning combos and techniques, and a VS Mode for local competition.
The remaster also expands the original roster by adding two fan-favorite characters from the series. King and Yuri Sakazaki, both iconic fighters in the Art of Fighting universe, will be playable for the first time in Art of Fighting 3.
