If you’re a fan of deep, systems-driven RPGs like Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, then Kinstrife is a project worth keeping on your radar. Developed by the small German-Dutch studio Finitude, the game is shaping up to be an ambitious medieval sandbox experience and it has just taken a major step forward thanks to a new publishing partnership.

Set during the chaotic 13th century Great Interregnum in the Holy Roman Empire, Kinstrife places players in the role of a wandering knight navigating a fractured world without strong central rule. Starting with little more than basic gear, you build your reputation across a non-linear landscape of castles, towns, and battlefields, choosing your own path as a noble knight, mercenary leader, tournament champion, or political operator.

What makes the game particularly interesting is its focus on physics-driven combat. Rather than relying on pre-set animations, every action is dynamically simulated, giving weapons a real sense of weight and impact. Fights can unfold unpredictably, with well-placed strikes knocking enemies off balance or even unhorsing them mid-charge, pushing the tactical depth beyond what many similar games offer.

Finitude also confirmed a partnership with Hooded Horse, a publisher known for strategy titles like Manor Lords. While Kinstrife has been in development for several years, this new backing adds momentum at a crucial time, plus you can wishlist it on Steam.
