Hooded Horse and Overhype Studios, the team known for the acclaimed game Battle Brothers, are entering 2025 with a new trailer and dev blog detailing the different weapon types and their stats in the game MENACE. This sci-fi turn-based tactics game will be released in Early Access on Steam for PC later this year.

MENACE throws you into a strategic battle to reclaim the Wayback System. The game offers a deep tactical layer combined with an expansive strategic system. You will manage operations from the TCRN Impetus, a mobile base from which you can handle upgrades, promotions, and your arsenal. There are two fundamentally different types of weapons in the game: Troop Weapons and Special Weapons.

When a troop is equipped with a Troop Weapon, every member receives a copy of that weapon. This increases supply costs, meaning larger troops are more expensive to equip. Troop Weapons include standard infantry arms like shotguns, submachine guns, and assault and battle rifles.

As the name suggests, Special Weapons serve specific roles. When a troop member uses a Special Weapon, they replace their regular weapon with it. Special Weapons are typically heavier, more specialized, and more powerful than regular Troop Weapons. Examples include rocket launchers, mortars, machine guns, and sniper rifles. It is often necessary for the troop to stop and hold position to effectively use this heavy weaponry.
