Microsoft has announced upcoming changes to Xbox Game Pass, with the price of Game Pass Ultimate rising from 16.99 $ to 19.99 $ per month, a 17.6% increase. In European countries using the euro, the monthly subscription will rise by 20%, from 14.99 € to 17.99 €. These changes will take effect for new members on July 10, while existing subscribers will see the new price starting September 12.
PC Game Pass in the U.S. will also see a price increase on September 12, rising from 9.99 $ to 11.99 $ per month, a 20% jump. Starting today, Game Pass for Console will no longer be available to new subscribers, but current members with auto-renewal enabled can continue using the service. Microsoft also announced a new standard tier for Xbox Game Pass, launching in the coming months. This tier will include all major features except day-one releases and will cost 14.99 $ per month.
Last August, Microsoft raised Game Pass prices in many markets. In emails sent to users, the company explained that this new increase is “to address changing market conditions.” Another likely reason is the upcoming addition of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 as a day-one Game Pass release.
The price of PC Game Pass will increase from 9.99 $ / 9.99 € to 11.99 $ / 11.99 €, retaining all current benefits, including day-one releases. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will now cost 19.99 $ / 17.99 € / €3 more than before, while keeping all existing features.
The classic Xbox Game Pass will be renamed Xbox Game Pass Standard and will cost 14.99 $ / 14.99 €, but it will no longer include day-one releases, offering only older games and online multiplayer. These changes apply to new users, while existing subscribers will continue to access all current Game Pass features, including day-one releases, until their subscription expires.
Xbox Game Pass Core will also become more expensive, with the annual subscription rising from 59.99 $ / 59.99 € to 74.99 $ / 69.99 €.
