Moomin: Midsummer Madness will launch for PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on November 12th, 2026, developer Crossbridge Game Studios and publisher Shochiku Games have announced. The digital edition will cost $19.99 or €19.50.

Inspired by Tove Jansson’s 1954 novel Moominsummer Madness, the point-and-click adventure follows Moomintroll and Little My after a flood submerges Moominvalley. Their search for a way home leads them aboard a mysterious floating theatre filled with costumes, scripts, familiar characters and theatrical secrets.

Players will explore hand-painted environments influenced by Jansson’s original illustrations, including the Moominhouse and locations surrounding the theatre. Progress involves conversations, environmental exploration, light puzzles and mini-games, while an optional hint system is intended to make the challenges accessible to younger players.

Certain sections also allow you to switch between characters and use their individual abilities. Some members of the cast can swim, for example, while smaller characters can enter narrow spaces that others cannot reach. Alongside moments adapted from the original book, the game will introduce new stories created for the adventure.

Before its November release, Moomin: Midsummer Madness will receive a one-day public demo at gamescom. Attendees can play it on August 27th, 2026, at Shochiku Games’ booth in Hall 10.1, F63, where a Moomin mascot will also appear.
