A new gameplay trailer for Death Howl has offered another look at the dark fantasy adventure, showcasing its unique blend of open-world exploration, soulslike design and tactical deck-building. The latest footage follows protagonist Ro as she journeys through haunting landscapes inspired by myth and memory in search of her lost son.

The trailer showcases the game’s core gameplay loop, which combines exploration with strategic progression. You gather ingredients scattered throughout the world to craft new cards, assemble customized decks and prepare for challenging encounters against tormented spirits and powerful bosses. Battles take place on a grid-based battlefield, encouraging careful positioning and thoughtful use of card synergies.

Death Howl offers a deep progression system with more than 160 craftable cards, allowing players to create specialized decks suited to different regions and combat styles. You can also claim powerful Shamanic Totems, unlocking new melee attacks, ranged abilities, spells and passive buffs while adapting to over 30 enemy types spread across 13 distinct biomes.

Originally released for PC via Steam in December 2025 before arriving on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Xbox Game Pass in February 2026, Death Howl has continued to evolve through post-launch support. Its free Rebirth Update introduced a harder New Game Plus-style Rebirth Mode, extensive difficulty customization through Custom Mode, seven new totems, balance adjustments, card and numerous quality-of-life improvements.
