During the Gamescom Awesome Indies showcase, publisher Team17 announced that its new city-builder Sintopia will launch on Steam on September 4th. The presentation offered a deeper look into the game’s mechanics, highlighting how players must balance managing the fiery pits of hell with using their divine powers to unleash chaotic destruction. With several other titles on the horizon, Team17 is certainly making a big push to close out the year.

The game features asymmetrical mechanics between two worlds: in the Overworld, a civilization of quirky creatures keeps making mistakes, while in Hell, players must manage punished souls, keep track of expenses, and generate profit to sustain the infernal empire. As the ruler of Hell, you can use administrative magic to influence the world above.

The building mechanics allow you to shape Hell’s caverns as you wish, while daily bureaucratic tasks can be delegated to demonic employees. A key gameplay element is monitoring the Seven Deadly Sins, souls must undergo “reeducation” to prevent corruption from spiraling out of control, which could trigger a demonic invasion.
