Upcoming 3D action-adventure RPG Angeline Era, from the small studio Analgesic Productions, aims to mix nostalgic visuals with thoughtful, emotional themes. The game is mainly made by Melos Han-Tani and Marina Kittaka, the team behind critically acclaimed titles such as Anodyne and Anodyne 2: Return to Dust. It is set to launch only on PC via Steam on December 8, 2025.

The game draws inspiration from many different sources, including early Ys games, the classic RPG Hydlide, Irish myths, early Christian philosophy, and Japanese-American history. All of this comes together to create a very unique experience set in Era, an alternate 1950s world inspired by Ireland, filled with humans, dangerous Fae, and mysterious Angels.

Angeline Era’s main gameplay feature is its “bumpslash” combat system. Instead of pressing an attack button, you hit enemies by running into them, which triggers automatic attacks. This gives the game a fast, momentum-based style similar to the early Ys titles. You also have an upward-shooting gun, subweapons, a double jump, and can use parts of the environment to damage enemies.

Exploration is also a major focus. The large overworld, made of forests, ruins, mountains, and mines, has no markers, so players must explore on their own to find hidden entrances to many hand-made levels. These secret areas include difficult boss fights, trap-filled sections, moments of humor, and eerie mysteries.

Built as a single-player game, Angeline Era is expected to offer around 20–30 hours of content. You can upgrade your stats with “Scales,” buy gear in towns, and choose from several difficulty modes that range from easy to extremely hard. The game promises a steady mix of strange and memorable scenes, blending humor, betrayal, and haunting lore, all presented in a visual style inspired by the original PlayStation era.
