After six years in development, the husband-and-wife team of Tim and Megan Bungeroth are set to realize a lifelong dream. Their retro-style bullet hell game Air Hares will officially launch on Steam on January 14, 2026 alongside its companion comic book.

In Air Hares, players take control of Captain Rabbo, the hero who must seed and water the carrot crop of Winrose while dodging attacks from the Gale Gang falcon goons. The game progresses through four distinct stages, each featuring three farming levels culminating in a unique boss fight.

As the difficulty increases, players must master skills like the barrel roll, parry, and loop-de-loop to evade the ever-faster falcons. Adding an extra layer of challenge are dynamic weather elements, including wind, rain, and lightning. The gameplay loop centers on shooting seeds and water droplets to fill each of the three carrot fields per level, dodging and parrying falcons, and beating the four distinct avian bosses.

The game also includes a dedicated Co-op mode where Player 2 controls Dirk Doggo, Captain Rabbo’s loyal canine companion. The team notes this setup is perfect for parents and young children to play together.
