A new rumor suggests Sony may finally be looking back at some of its older PlayStation franchises. For years, fans have been asking Sony to do something with its massive library of dormant IPs, and now it sounds like those conversations could actually be happening internally.

The rumor comes from gaming insider NateTheHate, who recently claimed there is truth to reports that Sony is exploring ways to revive older PlayStation properties. According to him, this specifically involves long-dormant franchises rather than more modern hits like Uncharted or Bloodborne.

Naturally, the internet immediately started listing the franchises they want to see return most. Games like inFAMOUS, Sly Cooper, Resistance, Killzone, Legend of Dragoon, MotorStorm, and Ape Escape have all been heavily mentioned across social media discussions ever since the rumor appeared.

Interestingly, this rumor also fits into a larger shift happening around older PlayStation games lately. Over the last few years, Sony has leaned more heavily into remasters, remakes, and game preservation efforts, whether through the PlayStation Classics catalog or modern re-releases of older titles.

Developers tied to these franchises have also occasionally hinted that the door isn’t fully closed. Sucker Punch Productions, for example, previously said there were no active plans for Sly Cooper or inFAMOUS at the time, but they never ruled out future possibilities entirely.

Of course, it’s important to remember that none of this is official yet. There’s still no confirmation whether Sony is considering full sequels, smaller remasters, modern remakes, or simply evaluating interest internally. But even the possibility of these franchises returning has clearly reignited excitement among longtime PlayStation fans.
