Get ready for a dark, gothic adventure full of brutal combat and a heavy metal atmosphere. Studio Steel Mantis, led by Andrew Gilmour, has announced Slain 2: The Beast Within, the sequel to their 2016 hit, Slain: Back from Hell. The game is scheduled for release on PC via Steam in 2026.

In Slain 2: The Beast Within, you play as Prince Akran, the last of the wolf knights. Armed with a magical sword named Bathoryn, you will fight to save a dying kingdom from the evil forces led by the demonic Lord Vroll. This is a hack-and-slash adventure, meaning you will carve your way through enemies using various techniques and special powers like fire and ice.

The story takes you through three major missions, each with its own locations such as a haunted castle, seas, and catacombs. You will face terrifying enemies, from ancient ghosts to enormous monsters, in a world that looks like it was ripped from a nightmare. The game’s art style is beautiful, with detailed pixel art graphics that bring the dark landscapes and creatures to life.

Slain 2 also introduces several new mechanics. The werewolf transformation represents a major novelty, allowing you to fight as a wild beast. The sword Bathoryn also brings additional depth, enabling you to use elemental powers to defeat enemies. The game world is larger and more detailed, with places like the gloomy streets of Wolftown and misty highlands that you can explore. Every area is filled with traps and challenges, so you will need to be careful to survive.
