Skybound Games and Broken Mirror Games have just released a new gameplay trailer for their upcoming open-world survival horror game, I Hate This Place. Inspired by Skybound’s popular comic book series, you’ll play as Elena, whose fight to stay alive begins after she and a friend accidentally awaken a dark, evil power. The game will be available on PC via Steam.

In this dangerous world, you’ll be hunted and outnumbered. To survive, you’ll need to stay alert, search your surroundings for useful items, and choose your fights carefully against strong enemies, many of whom can hunt you just by sound. I Hate This Place offers a classic survival horror experience with a focus on crafting. You’ll explore every part of Rutherford Ranch, from forests to abandoned towns and bunkers, all to stay alive.

As you venture through this dangerous world, you’ll collect important resources, create essential gear, improve your campsite, and rebuild safe outposts where you can hide from the horrors lurking outside. The game also features a dynamic day-night cycle that completely changes the world around you.

During the day, you’ll use the light wisely to explore, gather supplies, craft what you need, and get ready for the night. But when darkness falls, the true nightmares appear. More enemies emerge, becoming stronger and more aggressive. The landscape becomes harder to navigate with just your flashlight. Sometimes, your best bet is to find shelter and simply wait until morning.

Many of the twisted creatures in Rutherford Ranch hunt you based on sound alone, making stealth a crucial part of your survival. Trying to brute force your way through often leads to a quick death. Instead, you can use sound to your advantage, luring creatures away from your path or cleverly guiding them into deadly traps you’ve set. It’s a unique mix of horror, dark humor, and just the right amount of camp and gore, where a sense of unsettling dread meets a distinct, stylized charm.
