Developer Squiddershins, in partnership with publisher Top Hat Studios, has announced Wishfarers, a unique side-scrolling, turn-based tactical RPG. The game, which blends strategic depth with fluid platforming, was revealed at the Top Hat Studios Tokyo Game Showcase. It is slated for a PC release on Steam, with a specific date to be announced.
In Wishfarers, you lead a band of adventurers on a star-chasing quest to grant wishes. As you play, a humorous narrative unfolds, poking fun at fantasy tropes while placing your group against a wish-hoarding guild and political unrest. While the game features epic quests and magical foes, it also delves into more trivial desires, such as finding a decent pair of socks amid the mayhem.
Wishfarers blends turn-based tactics with streamlined platforming, giving you seamless movement and dynamic positioning on fully destructible terrain. Explosive spells and heavy blows can crumble ledges, allowing for creative environmental strategies to outsmart enemies. In addition, you can access an arsenal of over 100 abilities across seven customizable classes, from fiery incantations and healing spells to powerful bardic songs.
