After Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game was initially delayed this year, we also received a more detailed look at the game a couple of months ago, and a new short gameplay trailer was released during The Game Awards 2024. In the trailer, we saw, for the first time, home editing options, the game’s user interface, Hobbit movement, crop farming, cooking, and interaction with various NPCs.
This is not your typical Lord of the Rings game. It’s a cozy survival title that focuses on relaxation and exploring Bywater, without intense action or enemies. Players will solve various quests, build their own home, and meet different characters throughout their journey. The game is being developed by Weta Workshop, known for its extraordinary animations and special effects, but not for game development.
The game exudes a peaceful and fantastic atmosphere, allowing you to freely shape your own home and customize the home décor to your taste. You will engage in harvesting seasonal crops and flowers as time passes on your property, while testing your culinary skills with a variety of recipes. Furthermore, building relationships with other characters through shared, homemade meals will be a key component of the game.
Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on March 25, 2025.
