Channel37 has released Update 5: New Horizons for The Last Caretaker, bringing one of the biggest Early Access expansions yet alongside a 20% discount on Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The update introduces Project Eden, a new progression system focused on rebuilding civilization rather than simply surviving. As players recover restoration resources from orbit and contribute to committee projects, Eden gradually rises from the ocean, visually transforming the game world while unlocking new construction, crafting, quests, skills, and progression systems.

Update 5 also adds Project Jonah, featuring a new whale encounter, additional lore, quests, and unique rewards. Players can further explore the world’s history through Cultural Memories, which include cave paintings, holographic memories, collectible samples, and new discovery mechanics designed to expand the game’s narrative.

Beyond new content, New Horizons delivers extensive technical improvements. Channel37 has upgraded weather and wave systems, reduced memory usage, introduced HDR support, improved controller functionality and the user interface, while also optimizing overall performance across vehicles, physics, large save files, and other gameplay systems.
